DOAS and Georgians First Commission hosting Georgia Small Business Symposium Feb. 12, 2020

The Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS), in collaboration with the Georgians First Commission, is hosting a one-day professional development/learning and networking symposium for small businesses.  This inaugural event will provide the following opportunities:

  • Learn about how to do business with the State of Georgia
  • Learn about upcoming bid opportunities
  • Connect with purchasing professionals throughout the State
  • Meet and network with local resources and potential partners
  • Discover technical college and university-based programs that offer business
    and industry assistance, technology commercialization, and economic
    development advice
  • Understand key resources available to small businesses, including training and development of a business plan and marketing strategy 

The symposium sessions and workshops will be educational and interactive in nature, including audience question and answer opportunities with speakers.  In addition, we offer networking opportunities to encourage small businesses to connect and hear directly from various state entities about what they are purchasing, what they are looking for in terms of a good supplier, as well as how small business providers can fill the state’s equipment, services and capability gaps.  To encourage collaboration and partnering with the State’s larger suppliers, we will have a reverse trade show exhibit for small businesses to obtain additional information on potential opportunities.

USG holding annual procurement expo in Savannah on Oct. 24

The University System of Georgia (USG) invites all vendors to come to the 11th USG Procurement Expo — this year hosted by Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia.

At USG Procurement Expo 2017 you will explore business opportunities with the University System of Georgia. Network with federal, state, and local agencies and prime construction management firms.

The luncheon program will highlight business opportunities with Georgia’s ports, Chatham County, Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, and the City of Savannah.

Other features of this year’s event:

  • Includes sessions on navigating the procurement process of the University System of Georgia. Meet buyers and contracting officers from the public colleges and universities of the State of Georgia.
  • Network with representatives from the Georgia Department of Administrative Services, Georgia Department of Transportation, federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Meet prime construction management firms currently working with the University System of Georgia.

Georgia purchasing office announces ‘convenience contract’ for purchase of autos made in state

In support of the Automobiles Manufactured in Georgia Initiative program, the Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS), State Purchasing Division, has announced the implementation of a new statewide contract for Automobiles Manufactured in Georgia.

GA DOASThe contract number is 99999-001-SPD0000122.  This is a “convenience contract” and is available for use by all State, City & County public entities within the State of Georgia. The contract term is from July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2025. Users of this contract may purchase using their P-Cards.

This contract is currently established within Team Georgia Marketplace™. Contract information, including the Information Sheet, Benefit Sheet and Ordering Instructions, can be found on the Supplier’s Contract Summary Page located within Team Georgia Marketplace™.

State of Georgia purchasing department offers May 20 webinar on navigating their new website

The Georgia Department of Administrative Services (DOAS), State Purchasing Division, wants to help vendors navigate their new website. The site features a new look and functionality, and DOAS wants to be sure that vendors can find what they need.

State purchasing will present a Supplier Webinar on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. on the topic of Navigating the New Website. Registration is open and available to everyone. Please click here to register. You also can find supplier training events on the DOAS website at the new location.

The vendor web pages are easy to find at http://doas.ga.gov/state-purchasing.    Start by clicking on the “Suppliers” square.   You can also find things by using the “SEARCH” function at the top right corner of the page (the little magnifying glass).   If you have questions, please contact the Procurement Help Desk at 404-657-6000 or procurementhelp@doas.ga.gov.

Proceedings of recent disaster recovery contracting conference now on-line

Over 300 business people attended the Emergency Response Contracting Conference on June 21st, co-hosted by the Georgia Tech Procurement Assistance Center (GTPAC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Whether or not you were able to attend, the good news is this: Complete proceedings from this conference are now posted on GTPAC’s website!

By visiting http://gtpac.org/training/training-video, you now can view:

• a photo slide show,
• a video of all presentations,
• a set of all PowerPoint presentations,
• points-of-contact with participating agencies, and
• a list of all conference participants.

The conference focused on the products and services purchased by federal and state agencies in response to emergency situations in the southeast region. The agencies include FEMA, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) though the Georgia Dept. of Administrative Services (GA DOAS), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and the General Services Administration (GSA). Information about doing business with several federal contractors also was included.

For those businesses interested in participating in this category of government contracting, the new resources posted on GTPAC’s website should prove to be informative and helpful.
