GSA to host Public Buildings Service vendor conference Aug. 31st

If you are interested doing business with the federal government’s “landlord,” you should make plans to attend a special conference scheduled to be held in Atlanta on Aug. 31, 2010.
The conference is being held by the Public Buildings Service (PBS), a unit of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). The Georgia Tech Procurement Assistance Center (GTPAC) is co-hosting the event with GSA.
The purpose of the Aug. 31st conference is to acquaint the small business community with upcoming contract opportunities in the areas of design and construction; realty services; building services/energy; and GSA Schedules as used by the Public Buildings Service (PBS).
Not all GSA and PBS purchasing will be discussed at the conference. Instead, attendance at this event will be beneficial primarily to companies associated with NAICS codes 236220, 238160, 238210, 238220, 238290, 238990, 531110, 531120, 531210, 531320, 541191, 541310, 541320, 541330, 561710, 561720, 561730, 562111, 561210, 562910, and 562219. One-on-one appointments with PBS buyers will be available to vendors attending the conference.
The conference will be held in the 1st floor auditorium at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), located at 250 – 14th St, NW, Atlanta. Parking is free.

Air Force to host IT vendors in Montgomery, AL

“Dominance at the Speed of Need” is the theme of the Air Force Information Technology Conference (AFITC) scheduled for Aug, 30-31, 2010 in Montgomery, Alabama.
The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum for Dept. of Defense (DoD) vendors and officials to learn about the latest developments in information technology (IT) applications to support the Air Force in maintaining the most advanced fighting force in the world in air, space, and cyberspace. The theme, “Dominance at the Speed of Need,” emphasizes the need for our warfighters to change at a rapid rate and the acquisition process needing to keep pace.
This year’s events will highlight an IT Small Business Town Hall Meeting, a keynote address from Mr. John G. Caporal, Acting Director, Small Business Programs, Department of the Air Force, and an IT Small Business Match-Making Session. The Match-Making event will be by appointment only and everyone must be registered for the conference in order to participate.
If you are a small business seeking to gain knowledge about how to be better equipped to compete for federal government contracts, or you want to become a subcontractor to a large business that does business with the government, this is the conference for you!

Place your cursor over the Match Making Registration tab and submit your company information. Each vendor can sign up for a maximum of five sessions.

Proceedings of recent disaster recovery contracting conference now on-line

Over 300 business people attended the Emergency Response Contracting Conference on June 21st, co-hosted by the Georgia Tech Procurement Assistance Center (GTPAC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Whether or not you were able to attend, the good news is this: Complete proceedings from this conference are now posted on GTPAC’s website!

The conference focused on the products and services purchased by federal and state agencies in response to emergency situations in the southeast region. The agencies include FEMA, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) though the Georgia Dept. of Administrative Services (GA DOAS), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and the General Services Administration (GSA). Information about doing business with several federal contractors also was included.

Class on marketing to state, local gov’ts offered in Kennesaw

Thanks to a new partnership with The Edge Connection, arrangements have been made to host the first GTPAC class in Kennesaw, GA.
The Georgia Tech Procurement Assistance Center (GTPAC) will be presenting its popular class entitled “Marketing to State & Local Governments” on Thursday, July 22, from noon until 3:00 p.m. The class is being offered free of charge.
The class will address how to do business with State of Georgia agencies as well as cities, counties, school boards, and public authorities. By attending, you will learn how to register as a vendor, who to contact, where to find contract opportunities, what the requirements are for bidding, and how to get paid. Specific information will be given on State contracting and on opportunities offered by local governments in the Kennesaw area.

Army Corps of Engineers hosts small business event in Atlanta

Businesses interested in contract opportunities with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in Jacksonville, Mobile, Savannah, Charleston and Wilmington will be interested in attending an event scheduled in Atlanta on June 29 and 30.
This outreach event will provide a venue for USACE’s South Atlantic Division to discuss its mission, goals and contracting opportunities. Those companies interested in participating in this outreach event must have the capability to provide such servces as design, construction, construction management, environmental services, and civil engineering, including dredging.

Albany Marine Corps hosting vendor event Aug. 12th

The Marine Corps Logistics Command will be hosting its annual vendor event at the Albany, GA Civic Center on August 12, 2010.
This event is specific to the support of the Warfighter requirements, e.g., Logistics, Industrial Electronics, Communications, Engineering, Repair/Maintenance, Parts Obsolescence, Storage, Warehousing (including supplies), Material Handling, Green Initiatives, and Structure Ventilation/Controlled Environments for Workers.
The luncheon’s Keynote Speaker will be Sean Crean, Director, Office of Small Business Programs for the Navy. (Mr. Crean is also a Naval Reservist: RADM Naval Reserve Deputy Commander, NSSC.) There will be eight breakout sessions covering various procurement-related topics.

Want to learn how to do business with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), the Department of Defense’s largest combat support agency? Then make plans to be in Savannah on June 15 & 16.
