Counselor, Athens and Atlanta
Steve Bettner is a government contracting counselor with the Georgia Tech Procurement Assistance Center. He has over 20 years of management and consulting experience with the federal government in federal acquisition and contracting as a contracting officer, contract specialist, administrative contract officer, project manager and business consultant. He held senior executive level positions working for the Secretary of Defense and defense contractors CACI and Lockheed Martin before joining Georgia Tech.
As a warranted contract administrator with the Defense Contract Management Agency and for the U.S. Department of Defense he awarded over $5.7 billion in government contracts. A former naval officer and submariner, he holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tampa. Additionally he is a graduate of the Naval Nuclear Power School and the Defense Acquisition University where he earned the highest certification as a contracting officer. Currently, Steve is also a Doctoral Candidate at the University of Georgia’s Institute of Higher Education.
